very old messages in /var/spool/mqueue.in

Hi,

MailScanner tells me, that it has still a lot (for our system) of
messages waiting:

New Batch: Found 2811 messages waiting

in /var/spool/mqueue.in, I found messages from Jun 2005 and a lot from
2006. A lot of messages ar rubbish or spam.

Waht to do with the messages or how to monitor which are still goom ham
mails?

As usual, thanks for any hints!
