MailScanner start/stop issues on SuSE 10.2

Hi,

but starting with 
/etc/init.d/MailScanner start
fails to start the sendmail "accepting connections" listener
if any old sendmail children are existing (queue runners are started).
Start only succeeds starting the listener after they have been killed.
