May I suggest that you turn on the DBI tracing in MailWatch.pm and 
examine the logs.

It looks like a database issue, are you sure there are no crashed tables 
or any other DB issues.

Turn on DB logging in mysql also and again check the logs. I've recently 
seen this happen where the db host ran out of space. This happen very 
quickly when you do a few hundred million mails a day :)
