MailScanner <defunct> on new install

Hi list!

I installed MailScanner on a new installed RedHat EL4 box. Sendmail worked
properly, installed MailScanner. When i look into the log MailScanner 
keeps re-starting continuously (but without errors).

MailScanner -v doesn't show any missing modules, and ps -A shows that all 
but one MailScanner process is <defunct>.

Because there are no errors in the logfiles i have no idea where to look 
for the problem.

Any hints / pointers?
