Mailscanner 4.54.6 on FreeBSd 6.1 not working

Yes, you most likely hosed your perl installation by not properly 
upgrading it. Did you run the perl-after-upgrade script after updating 
perl? It sounds like the problem is between the keyboard and the chair.
