CentOS 4.1 final w/posix lock still having issues

I once had a problem on a CentOS box that seemed to be lock-related.
From time to time messages would be delivered with extra LF's and
dovecot would refuse to read them. The problem went away when I set Max
Child Processes = 1; I don't remember if/how I solved it after that.
