In MailScanner.conf:
Maximum Archive Depth = 3
(or any value greater than 0)

In filename.rules.conf:
deny<TAB>\.exe$<TAB>EXE files are dangerous<TAB>EXE files are dangerous
deny<TAB>\.pif$<TAB>PIF files are dangerous<TAB>PIF files are dangerous

Then restart MailScanner.
