is it normal to have have serveral sendmail proccess running after install of spamassassin

I am new to sendmail, and spamassassin.

When I do a ps-aux I noticed I have a few sendmail process's running.

they look something like this

sendmail: server [61.191.231.216] cmd read

Is this normal?

They eventauly timeout from what I can see.
