I don't think so. When a file is moved on the same partition, the only thing that is changed, are the inodes, nothing more. When you're copying from ram, the complete file has to be copied. Moving from ram to disk is faster than from one disk partition to another disk partition, but not as fast as moving on the same disk partition. As the file size increases, so does the time to move it. This is not so when you stay on one disk partition (inode only).
