4.39.3-1 bug or is it me - what MailScanner "debug" shows

Quentin,

I have even tried setting the result of the parser to "undef" to
intentionally break it. When I did this it correctly produced a "can't
analyse this message" email and everything worked just fine.

Can you try one thing: wipe /usr/lib/MailScanner and reinstall a
guaranteed fresh copy. Just in case you are accidentally running a
mixture of versions.
