problems with blank emails

It seems that I am have sporadic problems with emails 
arriving in users inbox's with nothing in the body of the email.  This also
happens with out going as well.   

Running 
Sendmail 8.12.11
MailScanner 4.36.4 (was this a problem with this version?) 
Anti Virus Mcafee 
Unix solaris 9
