As the URL got "linewrapped" to death last time....:-)
Go to
http://wiki.mailscanner.info
Click on "index" at the bottom.
click through:
documentation->test_troubleshoot->mta->connexion
to find a page that tells you (hopefully) how to use telnet
(from other hosts) to verify that your MTA (sendmail) will
accept messages and handle them as expected.
I'm not a sendmail guru (Julian is though:-), but will be glad
to help (if I can) to decipher any strange behaviour/log entries.
