Hi,

I have a question about MailScanner's support for IPv6. I checked the mailing list archives and found the release notes for 4.21-8, stating:

- Now support IPv6 addresses completely.

I also found some IPv6 references in .pm files in lib/MailScanner/.

However, I'm having troubles with IPv6. The OS is SuSE Linux 9.2 (kernel 2.6.11.6). Whenever a message is received over IPv6, MailScanner seems to think the sending mail server is the localhost (127.0.0.1). Here is an example (some info obscured):

********************************************************************
Apr  6 09:53:38 mx1 sendmail-in[13464]: j367qhO9013464: from=SENDER, size=105, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=MSGID, proto=SMTP, daemon=MTA-Inet, relay=xs6.xs4all.nl [IPv6:2001:888:0:1::666]

Apr  6 09:53:38 mx1 sendmail-in[13464]: j367qhO9013464: to=RECIPIENT, delay=00:00:32, mailer=esmtp, pri=30105, stat=queued

Apr  6 09:53:40 mx1 MailScanner[31983]: New Batch: Scanning 1 messages, 670 bytes

Apr  6 09:53:41 mx1 MailScanner[31983]: Saved archive copies of j367qhO9013464

Apr 6 09:53:41 mx1 MailScanner[31983]: MCP Checks completed at 670 bytes per second

Apr  6 09:53:41 mx1 MailScanner[31983]: Spam Checks: Starting

Apr  6 09:53:45 mx1 MailScanner[31983]: Message j367qhO9013464 from 127.0.0.1 (SENDER) to RECIPIENT is not spam, SpamAssassin (score=-15, required 4, autolearn=not spam, BAYES_00 -15.00)
********************************************************************

Because of this, all mail received from the IPv6 net is tagged as non spam, since localhost is bypassed for several checks (mainly because of MailWatch).

Does MailScanner have some sort of default (127.0.0.1), when the IP address cannot be determined or something?

Does anyone else experience this or are there not much IPv6 connected mail hosts out there? ;-)

Regards,
Mike.
