Craig

the init.pre contains lists of plugins etc hat should loaded.

in my case it's in /etc/mail/spamassassin and contains..

# This is the right place to customize your installation of #SpamAssassin.
#
# See 'perldoc Mail::SpamAssassin::Conf' for details of what can be
# tweaked.
#
# This file will be loaded before *all other* configuration files,
#including
# the system configuration. As such, it's a good place to set things # that
# will affect how those files are parsed, like which plugins are loaded
# etc.
#
###########################################################################

# RelayCountry - add metadata for Bayes learning, marking the countries
# a message was relayed through
#
# loadplugin Mail::SpamAssassin::Plugin::RelayCountry

# URIDNSBL - look up URLs found in the message against several DNS
# blocklists.
#
loadplugin Mail::SpamAssassin::Plugin::URIDNSBL

# Hashcash - perform hashcash verification.
#
loadplugin Mail::SpamAssassin::Plugin::Hashcash

# SPF - perform SPF verification.
#
loadplugin Mail::SpamAssassin::Plugin::SPF

As for the bayes DB issue, make sure your spam.assassin.prefs.conf has
it set to the correct directory with..

bayes_path                 /usr/local/var/spamassassin/bayes

or wherever it should be..if this is a fresh install you'll need to
populate the DB with sa-learn and use 200 of spam and 200 of ham to
train it. Either that or download examples from www.fsl.com/support
