Alex,

Looks like you have 2 children that are synchronized...  the number
between [ ... ] is the PID of the child.  As you can see, they are
different, thus are coming from 2 different children.

Is this normal?

I have Max Children = 1 set in MailScanner.conf so how are several children
running?

Should I be doing something about it?

I'm running mailscanner on Debian Sid.
