Hi

I always do one thing at a time - makes sure each step is good before I
go on to the next stage, rather than a big bang approach.

Anyway..

Are you running extra rules in the /etc/mail/spamassassin directory and
if so which ones...

Are you running any RBL's, again which ones. Also are you running a
local cachine nameserver to help with the RBL's/

To check whether Mailwatch (or the underlyinh mysql DB) is causing
problems comment out the 'Always Looked up last' line in
MailScanner.conf and see if the performance improves.

You may also have to re-tune the number of mailScanner children and
number of messages per batch with the new SpamAssassin as it's memory
requirements can be quite different - theres some work going on for
spamd processes that eat lots of RAM going on - yes I know MS doesn't
use spamd but it may have an impact.
