Yes. That's how mine is set up.

You probably have "Still Deliver Silent Viruses" set to no in your 
mailscanner.conf. Turn it on and virus notices will get passed in to your 
users.

Another way is to leave the above set to no and modify "Silent Viruses" to 
be a list shorter than "All-Viruses" if you still want to exclude notices 
for some types, but pass most on.
