Error starting lastest version of Mailscanner

So I guess I am not running .5, however there is a folder for .5 under
the perl directory. 

What do you think the problem is?

I don't think it's running 5.8.5. If it is, then why is there no mention
of 5.8.5 in the @INC search path? Check you are using the version of
perl you think you are using. What does
    which perl
and
    /usr/bin/perl -V
say?
