daemon MTA: problem creating SMTP socket

This happened to me today and it turned out I had inadvertently started
sendmail twice.. Once using the MailScanner start command and once using
sendmail start command. I issued the stop command several times for both
sendmail and MailScanner and then restarted MailScanner. This fixed it..

I tried to do anthing you can think about until I dicaided to uninstall
MailScanner, and after that everything work just fine.
Someone can tell me what is the problem ?
