Update-MakeMaker.sh fails - what am I missing?

Thanks for the reply Michele. That would seem to be at least part of
the answer as installing perl-devel made Update-Maker work. I now get a
better class of error message running install.sh:

Installing
/var/tmp/perl-Net-CIDR-0.09-3-root/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3/Net/CIDR.pm
Installing
/var/tmp/perl-Net-CIDR-0.09-3-root/usr/share/man/man3/Net::CIDR.3pm
Writing
/var/tmp/perl-Net-CIDR-0.09-3-root/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/Net/CIDR/.packlist
Appending installation info to
/var/tmp/perl-Net-CIDR-0.09-3-root/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3/i386-linux-thread-multi/perllocal.pod
+ '[' -x /usr/lib/rpm/brp-compress ']'
+ /usr/lib/rpm/brp-compress
bzip2: Bad flag `-n'
----clip----
lots of useful info on valid flags for bzip2
----clip----
Processing files: perl-Net-CIDR-0.09-3
error: File not found:
/var/tmp/perl-Net-CIDR-0.09-3-root/usr/share/man/man3/Net::CIDR.3pm

RPM build errors:
    File not found:
/var/tmp/perl-Net-CIDR-0.09-3-root/usr/share/man/man3/Net::CIDR.3pm

I presume it's the bzip2 problem that causes the glitch. I installed
rpm-dev as well by the way.

Any ideas on this?

thanks again and best regards
Brian
