Mailscanner runs <DEFUNCT>

MailScanner 4.30 is always running at least 1 or more defunct processes. We dont see this issue very often in 4.29 installed on our other servers. Whats causing Mailscanner to <defunct> all the time.

If i set the child processes to 2 in MailScanner.conf i see 2 defunct processes and 3 running normally. When i select 2 why are their 5 processes anyway?
