Problem with custom function in report

I have enable the custom function to get the real hostname in $hostname.
It works perfectly in the message that is attached when a virus is
removed. But because not everybody sends that attachment to our helpdesk
when they want the virus delivered I tried to have the hostname in the
inline message.

My inline messages have a header like:
|Dit is een bericht van het            | This is a message from the
|UTwente MailScanner virus             | UTwente MailScanner E-Mail Virus
|beschermingssysteem op $hostname       | Protection Service on $hostname
|--------------------------------------+------------------------------------

But when such a message is inserted in the message I get:
|Dit is een bericht van het            | This is a message from the
|UTwente MailScanner virus             | UTwente MailScanner E-Mail Virus
|
|--------------------------------------+------------------------------------

Don't work custom functions in reports or doesn't he like the same
variable twice on the same line?
