That depends if you have the cycles to spare.  You could try the clam perl module instead?

Rulesets are documented in the /etc/MailScanner/conf/rules/README and EXAMPLES files
Custom Config is documented at the top of the config file and in the /usr/lib/MailScanner/MailScanner/CustomFunctions/MyExample.pm file (although you need to know some perl to get going with it)
