Overflow of bayes_toks.expire files

Dear group - after having been very pleased with my mailscanner setup
(on Debian Linux, with f-prot), I seem to have run into trouble.

Since two days, I get many files in /var/lib/MailScanner of the form:

  bayes_toks.expire????? (some number)

They are many, and all about 2.5Mb. In fact I have gained over 200Mb of
them in the past 24 hours, causing /var to fill up and crashing my
system.

Does anyone know what is wrong here? Can I stop this from happening in
some way? I welcome all suggestions, also pointers to faqs in case I
missed one.
