check the config with

spamassassin -C /opt/MailScanner/etc/spam.assassin.prefs.conf -D --lint

(or whereever spam.assassin.prefs.conf is).

make sure you run this the user defined in MailScanner.conf.

also worth checking permissions on the bayes DB to make sure the MS user
can write to it..
