Scan interval

I have set 4 child procs, 5 sec Queue Scan Interval and processing mode
is batch. But messages seems to stay in the in bound/unscanned queue for
wildy varying amounts of time.

I think i would prefer to process in batch mode, every 5 secs whether 1
or 5 messages waiting with maybe a max of 10 messages per scan.

So i tried with the following settings, but files still sit in the queue
for all different amounts of time, its hard to wpork out what the
trigger is for the mail being scanned.

Queue Scan Interval = 5

Max Unscanned Bytes Per Scan = 100000000
Max Unsafe Bytes Per Scan = 50000000
Max Unscanned Messages Per Scan = 10
Max Unsafe Messages Per Scan = 0

Max Normal Queue Size = 500

Delivery Method = batch
