Sendmail Question (OT)

Sorry to post this here, but i cant work this out, and i know some of the
users here are pretty handy with sendmail, i have never used it, so the
config is almost greek to me.
i am sure this is simple, but i have inherited some hylafax servers that
use sendmail to mail the received fax to mail accounts on our domaino
network - previously these were sending mail out our SMTP gateway (out
of the network to the DMZ and then back in) so i enabled SMTP on the
home server for each LAN and now wish to get sendmail to send directly
to these home servers on an NT4 network with no DNS and private IP subnets.

I modified the mailtertable to
domain1.com.au                        SMTP:10.1.10.4

But Sendmail always compains it cann find the host in DNS, have tried
making a hosts entry too, but still no joy.

I just want to forward all outbound mail to 1 smtp server on the same
LAN, we have no DNS, we have only hostnames.

Could anyone offer me any tips?
