Spamassassin implem questions

[ITAdmin]

I apologize if I'm confused but,

1.  I have spamassassin installed
2.  The mailscanner docs I've read, say to use the mailscanner provided
implems of spamassassin and not the spamassassin installs.

Should I continue down the route you've called out?
