you are correct except that's not really a way to analyze a log in the
sense the OP is referring to. that's merely a way to view the log as
it's written. the only statistics you're going to gain from that are the
ones you can keep track of in your head.
i had two scripts that did some basic analyzing of the maillog but i
can't find them now. :( i think i sent them to a friend so i'll see if
he can send them back. i'll post them if i get something.
