to upgrade or not?

Hi All,
I know theres been some performance talk on the versions 4.26+ on busy
machines to do with some extra options I think it was...

Currently running 4.25-14 looking for feedback from anyone on busy
machines recommend staying a bit longer there or upgrading to current
stable? performance is a factor here on the current hardware, avg
constant 5 new msgs every second, load only hovers around 6, at the
moment, would I expect much more of an increase?
