Hi Csillag,
the original MailScanner does not support running in foreground, other than
for debugging purposes.
I modified it so you can add an option to MailScanner.conf like:
Run In Foreground = yes
As a value added, it spits some processing info (like, when child processes
are spawned) to STDOUT that you can easily capture with multilog.
See my original message at http://tinyurl.com/2n5gd
In http://tinyurl.com/2d4go I added a bit of info about using daemontools...
but if you're asking for this, you probably already know that.
Finally, in http://tinyurl.com/2qalx I send a bunch of patches to Julian to
see if he'd add some of them to the next release... the one I put as most
significative for other users (that is, other than me) is just this one.
FWIW, I'm running with this patches in two different sites, one of them is a
large IPS with 12 servers, each with 2 independent instances of MailScanner,
everything started by daemontools.
Julian,
I swear I don't know this guy and didn't send him :-D
