It's not eating memory but it uses a pretty constant amount of memory
per child regardless of how many mail you send/receive, it sits there
ready to process them, if it had to start every time a mail arrived it
would be very slow. Around 30 MB per child is normal, you can lower the
children to 1 if you want.
