i'd like to add some clarification to this for those that may be
struggling with this issue.

at first i had no idea what was meant by copy "the appropriate .pm files
from SpamCopUri to the appropriate Mail/Spamassassin directory in the
/usr/lib/perl5 tree" but then i *reread* the INSTALL file that came with
SpamCopURI and there is a section called "painful install". *this* is
the place where you can find out what files need to be where. to make
things even easier here they are:

Conf.pm
PerMsgStatus.pm
SpamCopURI.pm

before making any changes to my install i found that i had an old
version of Conf.pm and PerMsgStatus.pm in
'/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/Mail/SpamAssassin/' and no SpamCopURI.pm
file at all.

what i did first was make a backup of those two files and put them in
another directory. then i copied all three files from the source
directory* to '/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/Mail/SpamAssassin/' and
restarted MailScanner. now everything is working great. :)! finally.

hope this helps someone else.

chris.

* source directory = the directory i unpacked SpamCopURI into. for me it
is '/root/downloads/SURBL/Mail-SpamAssassin-SpamCopURI-0.18/'. but it's
likely something else for you. just do a 'locate SpamCopURI' and you
should be able to identify the proper directory.
