FYI postfix can lookup mysql users on the fly or you can cron export
them to text and hash them to avoid relying on sql being up. I know
sendmail has ldap support, but you wouldnt want to be doing thousands of
ldap queries all day, or reliant on ldap working to recieve mail. Work
out how to build a local map for you MTA. See the MAQ i have posted some
tools that may help you, if you can work out how to intergrate them with
sendmail.
Having a list of acceptable users save us processing 1/3 of the total
volume of UCE - its simply rejected at the MTA outright.
