Mail not getting caught

I just added a Mailscanner proxy in front of our "real" server.
I swapped the IP addresses around, so that the new system is the ip
address of our MX record.
The "real" mail server was switched to an arbitrary IP address, and the
forwarding works perfectly (tested using outlook express)
Everything is working ok, and when I send a test email from another
linux system, a "scanned by Mailscanner" footer appears (which is what I
want).
However, test emails from other services, such as gmail are not going
through Mailscanner. They don't show up in MailWatch, and no footer
appears. Any ideas?
