Very slow spam checks

Hi - I've looked through the MAQ and archives but can't find anything
exactly like this. I'm running MailScanner 4.31.6, SpamAssassin 2.63
and DCC, Razor and Pyzor on a P2 400 with 512MB RAM under Linux. The
box handles about 500 messages a day, so lightly loaded. Bayes database
is about 5.5MB in size.

The problem is that SpamAssassin starts running very slowly after a
while - taking up to 80 seconds to scan a single e-mail. If I do a
MailScanner reload (/etc/init.d/MailScanner reload) then the problem is
fixed and SpamAssassin goes back to taking around 5 or 6 seconds per
e-mail. After a few hours, though, it's back to taking 60-90 seconds
again.

Does this ring a bell with anybody?

Thanks,
