i think it is "important" for all rulesets,

eg.
$ vi /etc/MailScanner/filename.rules.conf
$ vi /etc/MailScanner/filetype.rules.conf
in both you can see this line:
# NOTE: Fields are separated by TAB characters --- Important!


for further infos|examples:

$ vi /etc/MailScanner/rules/EXAMPLES
