Mailscanner is running on a Solaris 2.7 box. Version of Mailscanner is
1.142.2.66.
We are all afraid of upgrading at this time because of how long
it took to get the program running correctly in the first place.

You could run:
/usr/sbin/tmpwatch 1 /var/spool/MailScanner/incoming
from cron.

What version of MailScanner are you running? I think I remember seeing
this with an older version. Perhaps upgrading would help.
