Help with 'make_mailhost_script '

If you cut and paste from windows into a terminal emulator session you may well have problems. I've seen things pasted from windows before which look fine but just don't work. You could try running the file through dos2unix that might help.

/usr/bin/perl does exist and is executable.
Output of which perl = /usr/bin/perl

What Operating system are you running? Where is perl? Does /usr/bin/perl
exist? Is it executable?
Try running:
which perl
What does that output?
