O/S is Redhat 9.0
/usr/bin/perl does exist and is executable.
Output of which perl = /usr/bin/perl

What Operating system are you running? Where is perl? Does /usr/bin/perl
exist? Is it executable?
Try running:
which perl
What does that output?
