(NEWBIE) no change to messages after intalling mailscanner

No, I'm sending test messages from my pc in another room. SMTP is set to
that server and it receives the test message and routes it to the local
mailbox. All my incoming mail arrives without any changes to the header so
it really doesn't matter anyway.

You're not trying to send test email from the mailscanner server itself
are you? If so dont, test byt sending mail rom another machine.
