SOLVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To prevent sendmail from doing a DNS lookup before forwarding messages on to
a smart host, just do the following:

1) Check and see if your system has a file named 'service.switch' anywhere
on it

   If not, then create the file /etc/mail/service.switch

2) To the existing, or the new service.switch file, add the line:
   hosts files

3) Stop and restart your sendmail services (i.e. service MailScanner
restart)

This will cause sendmail to only use your hosts file, and not use DNS

I saw over 2,500 messages that had been stuck in my mqueue spool for days
empty out in seconds! Now I've got a nice empty queue...
