F-prot Autoupdate Trouble

I am having trouble with F-prot dying on me.  When I run F-prot from command
line it says that SIGN.DEF is corrupt.  Deleting SIGN.DEF and running
autoupdate and its good for a while tell it does it again.  The autoupdate
that comes with Mailscanner does not work at all either.  I have to use the
one that comes with F-prot.  The real serious problem with all this is
messages say they have been scanned when they really have not.
