Strip HTML weirdness

I've just managed to get them to send a copy to my webmail address (netscape), and it turns out that this is what the text part of the message looks like - so something they screwed up rather than a MailScanner issue. Am I correct that if the message has a mime type of multipart/alternative then the html component will be discarded, leaving the original plain text componant.
