If you read the RFC carefully:
Except as noted, alphabetic strings may be represented in  any
combination of upper and lower case.  The only syntactic units
which requires preservation of case information are:
...
    -  local-part, except "Postmaster"

So the part before the @ in an email address should be case sensitive,
except for postmaster...

But I believe no software respects that (they all ignore case), which is
good!
