Well I don't have the virus.scanners.conf file since I'm using the old Mailscanner dist - 4-23.11
I've changed the /opt/mailscanner/etc/Mailscanner.conf and /opt/mailscanner/bin/config.pm files to point to /opt/sophos
but nothing to do

You will need to edit your virus.scanners.conf file (normally in
/opt/MailScanner/etc) to point wherever you have installed Sophos.
