web-based email for IMAP/POP3

I have been using IMP (http://www.horde.org) for 3 years now and my thousands of
users are extremely happy with it. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
and University of Pennsylvania did an extensive study on all the available
OpenSource packages that are out there and they both selected IMP. There is a
link somewhere on the Horde's website if you want to read it.

We use it with PHP, MySql backend along with sendmail and UW-IMAP. I say that it
is a great project. The documentation could be better. But, persoanlly, I have
not found a solid competitor that can scale to large users as good as IMP.

Also, take a look at Squirrelmail (http://www.squirrelmail.org), which I find
extremely simple to install and run.
