Set up your fetchmail configuration so that it delivers by talking SMTP to
"localhost" rather than calling sendmail directly.

Are you test spam messages particularly big? There is a "Max SpamAssassin
Size" setting in the MailScanner.conf (default is 90k).

Also you might want to set "Always Include Spam Report" to yes while you
are testing, so you can always see what happened.
