The final solution to this thread: I just checked the scripts and found out 
that MailScanner is not able to access the referenced file because of wrong 
permissions - fixing this issue brought everything back to live <gg>.

An improvment from this: Instead of saying "syntax error in line ..." it 
would be nice to have a more precise error message like "cannot find 
referenced file..." or so if the file is missing.
