Hi,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I used to have split incoming and outgoing
directories, however since nothing
was working, to attempt to resolve the problem I made it not split the
directories however yes there are indeed
two exim processes running

You do actually have two exim processes, don't you? With separate spool
directories (one each)?
